Chemistry Chair Receives the Brenner Scholarly Achievement Award
Dr. Petia Bobadova, Chair of the Chemistry Department, recently received theDaniel Brenner Scholarly Achievement Award.
Excerpt from the nomination letter:
As a Computational Chemist, Dr. Bobadovauses mathematics to predict the properties of molecules, creating adetailed “virtual reality” for molecules. She has worked on a collaborative project on fluorescentmolecules with a Louisiana State University faculty member, where she is able to connect to asupercomputer cluster necessary for her work. This research is very important, as new molecules withfluorescent properties provide new opportunities for improving diagnostics in human health and diseaseand open new avenues of research that require an ability to localize specific molecules within an organism. Dr. Bobadova's recent overall scholarly contributions are impressive: 2 grants through the National ScienceFoundation, 6 peer-reviewed papers, a book chapter, and 7 poster or oral presentations.
Congratulations, Dr. Bobadova and the Chemistry Department!
